Darran Lindsay
The 2 Stroke Racing Supporters Club would like to thank all those who attended
our fundraising night in The Yacht Pub in Loughshinny in September.
As a result of the generosity shown on the night, a total of €5,310
was raised and all proceeding went to Darran's wife Kerry Lindsay.
The 2 Stroke Club and their supporters will miss Darran and the pleasure
he always gave to his many fans racing both the Nibbles 125 and Roy Hanna's
250Hondas.
2 Stroke Racing Launch 2008
We held our Launch night last Saturday in The Yacht Bar, Loughshinny where we announced our plans for this season. The Club will again sponsor the Irish 250 National Road Racing Championship, the ever popular Mini July 250 Championship being held over four races at Skerries, Walderstown, Kells and Faugheen, along with a separate 125 Championship with Awards and Trophies awarded at the end of the season.
Last year we put €10,000 back into the 125/250 classes, and all this without the backing of a Club sponsor. We solely relied on supporters and riders becoming members, social functions in The Yacht Bar, advertising revenue from our booklet.
This year had two interesting announcements to make – Former 2SRSC sponsor and current team owner Gary Ryan of Street Sweep has confirmed that he would add an additional €1,000 to each of the 250 races at Skerries and Killalane. This means that each 250 race will carry €2,600 in prize money or €5,200 between the two races, making these the richest 250 National road races of the season.
Elsewhere with the reintroduced 125 and 250 TT races to be held on the Billown circuit, we put forward a proposal to the TT Motorsport director Paul Phillips that we would like to put forward two additional trophies for these races. Paul agreed for us to come on board and welcomed these new trophies along with a cheque for £200 to the highest places club member for each of these races.
New for 2008 is our discussion board.
