Hello enclosed is the report from last weekend races at Chimay... Enjoy yourself and Kind Regards from TwinTriple Racing Hello readers, Round 3 of the IRRC was held in Chimay (B). This was the First race for modern machines since 2004, in the little french speaking town famous for its beer. It was like going back in time, with the track surface and surroundings still the same as they were years ago. Under good conditions the 2 practice sessions were being held on Saturday. It soon was obvious that we made a wrong choice in gearing. Even fitting the largest rear sprocket for the 2nd session didn’t cure it. Acceleration between the 4 chicanes was to slow. Peter said; “I was convinced that the 2 straights were longer when I went to visit the track in May. So I expected longer straights.” 18th place on row 5 was the practice result, but with a wide track anything was possible at the start. Saturday evening a smaller front sprocket was fitted and with confidence Peter looked forward to race day. Photo by Hubert Hecker
Sunday morning had good weather for the 1st heat. After a good start Peter completed the first lap just outside the top 10. Between 5 riders a good scrap for positions starts with Peter at the back. Sadly after 4 laps completed the race was stopped due to a red flag incident. Rider was ok, but there was oil on track. Restart was over 5 laps and so a short race. A 15th place overall was the result, with some more championship points. In the afternoon heat 2 was scheduled. Peter again had a good start and gained some places. He had to give back some places and soon ended up riding behind Marnix d’Hondt. In his struggle to stay close behind Peter made a small brake error and lost his contact. After a difficult lonely race an 15th place was the endresult. Riding a PR of 4 seconds quicker then on Saturday. Results can be found here; http://www.ris-timing.eu/~vitesse//chimay/2010/index.htm This Friday we get on the ferry towards Ireland for a small holiday. And of course the Ulster GP! Hopefully I see some of you there, make sure to visit us at the paddock Contact >
